Commercial Fiber-to-the-Suite Networks
Office Complex Networks
Developers of Office Complexes completely rely on their tenants or the service provider to provide the necessary infrastructure to deliver voice and data solutions within their facilities. Although most large buildings are equipped with advanced copper based or in select cases fiber-based network internal network architectures, the services are still being delivered to a standard copper based interface. To enable a building to be future-proof ready, BitStream has developed a fiber-based network platform that will fit within the building budget of the developer. BitStream’s network architecture forces the service providers to connect to the network in one location. From there, their services are aggregated together and delivered to each tenant over fiber. If the tenant requires fiber to the desktop, a fiber link can be provided directly to their fiber switch. The core benefit of implementing a fiber-to-the-suite network in an office building is it allows the developers to market their buildings to a wider range of tenants while maintaining a lower cost of operations and providing an opportunity for additional revenue sources. Moreover, once the network is installed, surveillance cameras, access controls, and building operations/utility systems can now be managed in real-time for free by building management.
Retail Networks
In today’s service industry, advanced point of sales systems, video entertainment systems, surveillance systems, and data access points are now a requirement in order to persuade customers to come into their establishments. This requirement is often overlooked by the Commercial Developer as a basic requirement. What often happens is the tenant is left underserved by the developer. To attract new business that rely on advance network capability, BitStream has developed a low-cost fiber-network platform which enables the developer to not only offer future proof bandwidth to their customers, but the system enables the developer or building manager to cost efficiently manage the building vital operations systems.
At the front end of the commercial facility, the service providers connect to BitStream’s fiber network. From there, BitStream’s fiber is able to transport up to 1-Gigabit per second of service to each tenant within the building. This means that each tenant will never have to worry about bringing in additional wiring or systems to expand their capability. Within the data closet of each unit, a 14” enclosure will house the ONT. From the ONT, a phone, an Ethernet, and a single video connection is provided. The tenant can now patch their communications platform directly to the ONT and receive immediate bandwidth for phone and video capability than they will ever need.
As a value-add, the building management can decide to convert the retail space to office space and never have to overhaul the fiber network infrastructure.
